PVYA Monthly Board of Directors Meetings:

Sports Section

Potomac Valley Youth Association (PVYA) currently coordinates youth sports programs for fall and spring cheerleading, fall and spring soccer leagues, spring lacrosse, spring softball, winter basketball, cross-country and track.  Volleyball is an inactive sports program at this time, but funds are available to run it if a coordinator steps forward.   For more information about a youth sport program visit the sport’s homepage.

Basketball

The PVYA Basketball program coordinates intramural and COED leagues for youth in kindergarten through 12th grade throughout the winter.  Practices and games are held at one of the schools in the Brunswick feeder area.

Cheerleading

The PVYA Cheerleading program offers participants and opportunity to learn routines and cheer at PVYA games.  Pratices are held weekly throughout the cheering season.

Cross-Country

The PVYA Cross-Country provides girls and boys in grades kindergarten through 8th grade an opportunity to participate in a long distance running program.  The program is offered in the fall. Practices are held at Brunswick High School or Brunswick Middle School.  Meets are held throughout Frederick County.

Lacrosse

The PVYA Lacrosse program coordinates girls and boys leagues in the WMYLC (Western Maryland Youth Lacrosse Conference) for youth in grades 1st through 8th during the spring season.  Practices and games are held at one of the schools in the Brunswick feeder area.

Soccer

The PVYA Soccer program coordinates a U6 soccer academy, girls and boys recreational leagues in the FCYSL (Frederick County Youth Soccer League) for youth in grades 1st through 12th, and competitive soccer leagues in BBSL (Baltimore Beltway Soccer League) during the fall and spring seasons.  Practices and games are held at one of the schools in the Brunswick feeder area.

Softball

The PVYA Softball program coordinates girls leagues in the FCGSL (Frederick County Girls Softball League) for participants in 1st through 8th grade during the spring.  Practices and games are held at one of the schools in the Brunswick feeder area.

Swimming

The Brunswick River Rapids  is part of the Frederick Summer Swim League (FSSL) we encourage informal, friendly team competition at the neighborhood pool level while providing our youth the opportunity to develop athletic skills, positive sportsmanship, and understanding of teamwork, and an appreciation for the relationship between effort and success in a wholesome and fair atmosphere.

Track and Field

The PVYA Track and Field program provides girls and boys in grades kindergarten through 8th grade with an opportunity to compete in individual and relay team races at meets throughout the spring.  Practices are held at Brunswick High School or Brunswick Middle School.  Meets are held at high schools throughout Frederick County.

Volleyball
 Coordinator:
 NEEDED

The PVYA volleyball program is currently in need of a coordinator. The volleyball program offers girls intramural leagues for youth 5th through 12th grades throughout the winter.  Practices and games are held at one of the schools in the Brunswick feeder area.  Contact PVYA president, Carl Struss, if you are interested in coordinating this sport.
